Join us for an autumn walk, where you’ll meet new people and contribute to a meaningful cause!
Our goal is to collect acorns for wild animals, in cooperation with Lasy Miejskie Warszawa.
Many wild animals rely on acorns to survive the winter. Unfortunately, some – especially those recovering from injuries – can’t gather them on their own. That’s where we come in!
When?
October 18th (Saturday), 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Where?
Meeting point in Krasiński Garden (Ogród Krasińskich), by the pond
During our walk, we'll collect acorns and bring them to the UCW office. They will then be delivered to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre of Lasy Miejskie Warszawa to help animals get through the winter.
How to join?
Anyone from the UW community can join by filling out the form till 17.10.25 (just four short and obvious questions:))
We reserve the right to cancel the event in case of bad weather.
What if I can't join?
You're welcome to collect and bring acorns on your own to our office VC UW by October 28, 2025 from Monday till Friday 9 am. - 4 pm..
Please keep in mind a few important rules:
- We collect whole, undamaged, and non-rotten acorns.
- Ideally, they should be dry – you can place them on a paper towel to dry them out beforehand.
- We are collecting acorns from the common oak (Quercus robur), also known as pedunculate oak, not from the red oak. The differences between them are shown in the image below. It is important, because animals do not eat acorns from the red oak.
