The Common Course – Peer Mentoring Program

Starting university is an important but also challenging moment. The Common Course – Peer Mentoring program was created to make this transition easier. Within the program, senior students from a given field of study support first-year students beginning their studies at the University of Warsaw.

Mentors act as guides who share their experience and show where to look for the right support. Thanks to this, first-year students can adapt more quickly to the new environment, while the program itself becomes an opportunity to build valuable relationships and discover student life beyond the classroom.

This initiative brings benefits to both sides. Mentees gain a sense of security, self-confidence, and an easier start to their studies. Mentors develop communication, organizational, and social skills, learn responsibility and cooperation, and gain experience that will be useful in the future – both academically and professionally. Additionally, for Mentors it is an opportunity to take part in dedicated training sessions, complete a course, and earn ECTS credits.

The Common Course – Peer Mentoring is not only about support and learning, but also about creating a community. It is a chance to feel part of the University of Warsaw and to actively co-create an initiative that truly strengthens the academic community.

The Common Course – Peer Mentoring program will start in the winter semester of the 2026/2027 academic year.
