We’ve got something completely new for you!
Have you ever heard of the Nansen Dialogues? This October, we’re launching a new series of meetings – Dialogues – a space for sharing opinions, talking without judgement, and engaging in open conversations in a safe atmosphere of mutual respect. It’s an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and others.
The first meeting in the Dialogues series will take place on 29 October at 6:00 pm.
Topic: Gender in Culture. Join the dialogue!
When?
29 October 2025
6:00 – 7:30 pm.
Where?
The Volunteer Centre of the University of Warsaw (the University of Warsaw Library [BUW] building on the ground floor, just behind the Poster Gallery)
What are the Nansen Dialogues?
Public dialogue in the methodology of the Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue* is an open conversation on any topic, conducted in a way that ensures safety for all participants. Dialogue also creates space for addressing challenging issues – with the facilitator safeguarding the process by actively listening, asking questions, and encouraging deeper reflection without judgement.
The meeting follows a clear technical framework but carries no hidden agenda. Its aim is not to seek solutions, but rather to provide an opportunity for a deeper understanding of oneself and others.
Topic of the first meeting: Gender in Culture
Practical information:
- The meeting will be held in English.
- Dialogue involves active participation (through attentive listening and/or speaking in your own voice).
- Undistracted time is important, so we kindly ask you to be punctual.
- The meeting will finish with a casual tea and networking – feel free to stay.
How to take part?
We warmly invite University of Warsaw students and doctoral candidates – both Polish- and English-speaking – to join the meetings.
The event is open to all. If you would like to take part, you can either:
- send an email to wolontariat[@]uw.edu.pl by 28 October 2025 (please include your name and study programme) to receive a reminder about the event, or
- come to the Volunteer Centre of UW on the day of the meeting and show your valid student/doctoral ID card.

* The Nansen Centre for Peace and Dialogue (Norway) is a recognised peace and human rights centre. Its dialogue method has been developed since the 1990s in response to the Balkan wars, notably through the 1995 Sarajevo–Lillehammer partnership. Since then, it has supported conflict-affected communities worldwide, working with multicultural groups, diasporas and educational institutions. The Nansen approach creates a safe and courageous space for conversation across divides, grounded in attentive listening and follow-up questions provided by a facilitator who oversees the process. Open dialogue is an effective way to rebuild trust and social relationships.
