Another - TENTH - wonderful year is behind us! Together, we managed to create a space for intercultural and intergenerational dialogue. We had the opportunity to meet, get to know each other, establish new relations, help and be engaged. Together, we had an impact on the reality around us.
We want to thank you for being with us!

And how did we spend that time?
- We started the year traditionally with the Filling in Pets' bellies action. Thanks to the UW community engagement, we donated food for cats and dogs from the Zwierzochron Foundation, Na Paluchu Shelter and Zwierzęca Polana Foundation.
 - Together with seniors from the Nowolipie Intergenerational Activity Center, we also prepared animal toys and sniffing mats, and thanks to Marta Kotarbińska from Zwierzochron, Polish and English-speaking dog lovers could learn more about what the dog's world looks like.
 - 2023 was the year of the UNICOMM Project. As part of this international project, with partners from Austria, the Czech Republic and Belgium, we conducted a survey among European university students, resulting in the report "University as community: students’ perceptions of participation, engagement and belonging at European higher education institutions".

In June, we went on an inspiring trip to the Czech Republic, during which we learned about the activities of Palacký University in Olomouc. We spent autumn with wonderful participants of the Masterclass Workshops on Community Building, with whom we discussed how to create an engaged university community. You can get to know them by visiting our website: https://wolontariat.uw.edu.pl/unicomm-masterclass/ 🙂
- May means Miasteczko na styku kultur - Cultural Hot Spot UW. Thanks to the engagement of dozens of volunteers, the event participants could learn about many cultures represented by students of the University of Warsaw. The event was organized by VC UW, Welcome Point UW, the Student Council and the Student Council of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the University of Warsaw.
 - The second picnic in the BUW Gardens was an opportunity to relax together. During this year's edition you could practice yoga, try dishes from the Student Cookbook, sew a zero-waste scrunchie or make a toy for animals.
 - As every year, we have joined forces with Welcome Point UW more than once 🙂 Our cooperation included Polish conversations with people from Ukraine, and supporting international employees of the University of Warsaw.
 - We started the 2023/2024 academic year with a multicultural vibe. In addition to the traditional meetings about Polish culture for international students, the UW community could participate in a unique event: Students for Seniors: We create Indonesian decorations, organized with students from Indonesia. Decorations made during the workshops were given to seniors from the Nowolipie Intergenerational Activity Center during the meeting about Indonesia.
 - In October, as part of the Erasmus+ scholarship for university employees, we were visited by Dr. Andrea Martínez Celis from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Madrid), who, together with Katarzyna Kucharska, conducted workshops on intercultural communication.
 - We ended the tenth year of VC UW with a unique birthday edition of the Mission: Christmas Tree. With the combined efforts of preschoolers, students, employees and seniors, we created beautiful decorations to bring joy to seniors from the Nowolipie Intergenerational Activity Center.
 - 2023 also resulted in fruitful cooperations, thanks to which our Volunteers were able to support, e.g. initiatives of the University of Warsaw Museum, the Copernicus Science Center, the Chlebem i Solą Foundation, the Children's University, and the Pi Foundation.

Of course, these are not all the activities we could implement with you.
Thank you for being with us all year long and see you in 2024!
We wish you that the coming year will be full of beautiful moments, joy and possibilities for creative activities and projects.
